About Me

Hello. Welcome to my site. I encourage you to explore my visual art, art stories, and wearable art.

I’m a multi-dimensional artist that delves into a myriad of mediums and art styles. Art to me is an extension of your self-expression and therefore fluid. I hope to enlighten others as I enlighten myself. I utilize my creative gift to provide visual representations filled with illusion, imagery, alchemy, and realism to aid in the journey leading us back to ourselves.

I grew up in, Jonesborough, the oldest town in Tennessee. I would say I was born into a family of creatives. Whether it was sewing, gardening, building, cooking, crafting, or chemistry they knew how to make something out of nothing. I was taught to create and experiment at a young age. I’ve been drawing since I could hold a pencil. The doodle was my first masterpiece.

In undergrad, I minored in Art where I learned to work with different techniques and mediums from 2D Art, 3D Art, Color Theory, Encaustic Painting, Printmaking, etc. However, I’m a self-taught painter. I completed my first portrait painting in acrylic in 2018. It was 2018 when I began my art business. My artwork has been shown in galleries, art shows, solo exhibitions, and events. I also work as a set designer/painter for StoryTown’s Initiative community plays.

From 2018 to 2021 the pieces I created were relevant to the black experience and racial politics happening at the time. I focused on our power as queens and kings and the importance of honoring our revolutionary cultural ancestors to help motivate the fight for change within our communities as well as stand with our brothers and sisters worldwide. As I grow through my spiritual journey, my perspective is shifting and my art process is evolving. With psychology being my focus in undergrad amplifying my passion for the inner workings of the subconscious mind it has aided in my revelation to subtly or subliminally incorporate our ancestors’ spiritual concepts. Having our identity stripped from us for generations has had a significant impact on our psyche. Many of us have a strong aversion for anything that remotely looks like “witchcraft” or superstition. The indoctrinated beliefs have made us completely intolerant of some of our essential roots. And for this reason, it must be done subtly as it is “identity-shattering” to the black subconscious. The practices of our ancestors are held in their stories and can help set us free mentally. My most recent works completed this year encompass my spiritual growth journey. I believe that we can only find peace on this earth in the mass chaos by finding peace within ourselves first.

My brand, Crucial Art Images, mantra is “change your thoughts, change your life.” The whole premise of my work is to ultimately awaken or nourish the soul by encouraging others to connect to their roots through visualization. Think -  Speak - Visualize - Restore. However, it's all-encompassing the “word” or stories we first tell ourselves. The stories we tell ourselves come from the stories we hear and then we tell others, having our ancestors live through us, healing from the inside out. Honoring the sacredness of the oral storytelling tradition. The circle of life.
